CFE-DGC-a. Lucy Jane Maltby, b. Aug. 22, 1844 (Norman 6, John 5, Wm.4, Jos.3, Dan.2, Wm.1). Mar. Aug. 4, 1875, Rev. Edward Payson Powell, of Clinton, N.Y.; b. May 9, 1833, Clinton, Oneida Co., N.Y. She was a graduate of the State Normal School, Albany, N.Y.; was for a time teacher in the schools of Oswego, N.Y.; at Jefferson City, Mo.; the High School at Sedalia, Mo., and was one of the teachers appointed to organize the State Normal School at Warrenburg, Miss. She was pro- fessor of Mathematics in that school in 1875, when she resigned to be married. Her husband was born at the old homestead at Clinton, N.Y.-- which was granted to his Powell ancestor by the Indians--he was a graduate of Hamilton Coll., 1853; of the Union Theological Seminary 1858, was pastor of the Congregational Church at Adrian, Mich., 1861 to 1871; afterwards going to St. Louis for three years and to Chicago three years. In 1878 he returned to Clinton and devoted his time to literary pursuits and was widely known as a writer on religious and farm topics. He d. May 14, 1915, at Sorento, Florida. His wife had died Nov. 15, 1910.
